General information

METANANO is annual international conference where the latest research in the field of metamaterials, nanophotonics, terahertz radiation and optical engineering is presented. METANANO-2018 will be a hub for the researchers working in the fields of nanoscience, metamaterials, photonics and related topics, providing great opportunity for sharing the results of their research. The conference is organized by the Nanophotonics and Metamaterials Department of the ITMO University and is supported by Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics. The conference will take place in Sochi, the unique city surrounded by Caucasus mountains from one side and by the Black Sea from another.
METANANO 2018 is held with the financial support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Project № 18-02-20114.

Proceedings publication

All submitted papers (2-4 pages in length) will be reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. The reviewers are encouraged to give constructive comments and suggestions to the authors. After the Technical Program Committee will make the decision, the authors will receive the review comments and recommendations. The authors of accepted papers will have a possibility to make updates of their papers based on the review comments and suggestions. The final versions of the Conference Proceedings will be published in IOP Journal of Physics: Conference Series and indexed in Scopus and WOS. The following downloadable packages contain the IOP Conference Proceedings templates together with the License to Publish Agreement and other additional documents you may need. They also contain detailed advice on preparing your paper, including examples showing how to prepare and style references.
Note that for invited, keynote and plenary speakers short abstracts (~250 words) are acceptable, however, we would kindly ask you to use the usual proceedings template provided on the webpage.
Please upload the revised version of your manuscript before July 1, 2018 through personal page at the Conference website.
We remind you that publication of the papers in the peer-reviewed IOP Conference Proceedings is possible only after the payment of the conference registration fee. Please note that manuscript should comply with the official IOP template.

Conference Format

All contributions will be reviewed for technical merit and content on the basis of the conference papers submitted by the authors.

Language

All contributions should be presented in English that is the official language of the Conference. No simultaneous translation services will be provided.

The conference venue is Sirius Art & Science Park Sochi, which the one of the best Congress and Exhibition centers in Russia.
The congress center is located at Olympic avenue 1, Sochi, 354340.

Accommodation

METANANO 2018 participants are welcome to stay at Omega Sochi hotel 3* which is 5 minutes walking from the Conference Venue. There are 3 room types to be offered - Standard, Junior Suite and Suite. Breakfast is included. Hotel has sport facilities, 24-hours bar and restaurant.

In order to book a room at Omega Sochi hotel please fill in the following form in English or in Russian and follow the instructions in the document.

Note! The hotel is not available for booking at the www.booking.com website since all rooms are temporary reserved for the participants of the conference!

You will need to print the registration form, sign it by hand and send to the e-mail address mentioned in the form. Please note that after sending the reservation form you will be charged a deposit in the amount of the cost of a one-night stay.


Hotel Omega Sochi offers special rates for the participants of the METANANO conference (prices are in rubles per night). Note that according to Federal Law No. 214-FZ hotel guests should pay resort fee taxes which are 10 rubles (approx. 0.15 EUR) per night. See details.

Previous edition of METANANO 2017 in Vladivostok, Russia


In 2017 METANANO was held in Vladivostok which is included into National Geographic Top 10 oceanfront cities with glittering seascapes.

The Conference brought together more than 230 scientists and researchers from all over the world.

Visa

Please fill in visa invitation form in order to get official invitation for visa application.

Please note that we only consider visa invitations for those participants who have submitted their papers (paper upload) and have paid registration fee.

A foreigner traveling to Russia should have a valid passport (expiry date should be no earlier than 6 months after the date of visitor's departure from Russia) and an appropriate visa (for almost all foreign visitors). The deadline for the Business Visa support from the conference organizers is June 30, 2018.

The visa application rules are different for different types of visas and also depend on country of residence of the applicant:

I. VISA-free entry:

II. VISA (you need VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT)

II.I EU-citizens (except for citizens of Denmark, the UK and Ireland)

To get a visa, a visitor has to submit to a Russian Embassy or Consulate an official letter of invitation issued by ITMO University- VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT.

Each participant (and accompanying person) will timely get such a Letter if he (she) ticks this option and fills in the data for the visa support letter and uploads a copy of the pages of a passport with photo in the personal account.

Please, apply for a visa as soon as possible after receiving the invitation to ensure that the visa is issued timely. Please note that the process of issuing the official letter of invitation by ITMO University takes about 5 working days. The invitation letter from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation could take 3 weeks of more.

II.II NON-EU CITIZENS (and citizens of Denmark, the UK and Ireland)

To get a visa, a visitor has to submit to a Russian Embassy or Consulate “an official letter of invitation from the hosting organization registered with either the Russian Ministry of the Interior with its local offices or the Russian Foreign Ministry with its regional representatives”, i.e. issued by the Federal Migration Service- VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT.

Each participant (and accompanying person) will timely get such a Letter if he (she) ticks this option and fills in the data for the visa support letter and uploads a copy of the pages of a passport with photo in the personal account.

Please, apply for a visa as soon as possible after receiving the invitation to ensure that the visa is issued timely. Please note that the process of issuing the official letter of invitation by Federal Migration Service takes about 3 weeks.

Please use following form to receive letter of invitation from conference organizers.

For getting VISA INVITATION DOCUMENT please complete the following steps:

• Prepare a scanned copy of two adjacent pages of your passport which contain your photo, passport number and expiration date. Recommended resolution is 150–300 dpi; file formats: jpg, jpeg, gif, png, tif, tiff, pdf. Please note that size of the uploaded file must not exceed 16Mb.

Extra documents:

  • Copy of Marriage Certificate (in a case of spouse being accompanying person)
  • Copy of Residence (in a case of living outside the Country of Nationality)

• Attach the scanned copy when registering through the form.

• Repeat the above steps for all accompanying persons (please DO NOT omit affiliation, position, address and fax of the institution FOR EMPLOYED, STUDENTS and PUPILS).

• Wait for the response from Organizing Committee

The same information is required for each of accompanying person.

Please, also check that yours and your accompanying persons' medical insurance is valid in Russia.


Note that visa or visa invitation letters are processed by Department of support of foreign research and teaching staff of the ITMO University. LLC "META" which serves as a conference service agent is not responsible for any visa procedures.
